Welcome to the PsychNotes Website!!
PsychNotes, a regular publication of the Psychology Department at Central Connecticut State University, is intended to inform members of the Psychology community (faculty, undergraduate and graduate students, alumni) about current happenings in the Department.
To keep up with the changes on this website, we've made it easy to use a free service called Mind-it, a free, Web-based software tool that automatically sends you an e-mail whenever a web page you've selected has been updated. The instructions for using Mind-it are at the end of this newsletter.

Summer Course
Added
Because of large
demand, a second section of Psy 221, Research Methods in Psychology I, has been
added. It will meet in the 8 week session on Tues and Thurs evening from
5:30-8:00 pm (code # 2430, section 61). The instructor will be Dr. Steven
Horowitz. This course listing does not appear in the Summer School Bulletin but will
be offered.
Chair’s Corner
This will be my
final edition of PsychNotes as Chair of the Psychology Department. After serving
2 terms (6 years) as Chair, I am returning to full-time teaching beginning in
Fall 2000. Dr. Frank Donis will be the new Department Chair.
It has been a
privilege to work with my faculty colleagues and you, the students, since 1994.
It has been a powerful learning (and sometimes humbling) experience. To
paraphrase Charles Dickens “It has been the best of times; It has been the
worst of times.” The Department has seen a significant turnover in faculty,
has survived devisive internal squabbles, has developed a number of new courses,
and is now engaged in a long-term planning that may likely lead to some notable
changes in our curriculum.
The Department, in
my opinion, is now in a “good place.” Faculty morale seems high (must be all
those drugs in the water cooler) and faculty are particularly productive. I
believe we have become more student-centered in recent years and now provide
more opportunities for students to become engaged in the work of the field,
either through research projects, independent studies or internships.
Working with
students has always been one of the more delightful aspects of my job as Chair
and I want to thank you for the opportunity to serve you. I wish you all the best
and hope your experience with Psychology at CCSU has been a positive one.

Using Mind-it to keep current with PsychNotes
The instructions below will tell you how to set this service up for PsychNotes -- And remember, you only need to do this ONCE. After you do, Mind-it will send an e-mail to notify you of updates to the site, and the e-mail message will contain a hyperlink you can click on to visit PsychNotes.
(1) Type in your e-mail address in the box below where it says "Enter email
address".
(2) Click the "Mind-it" button and you will be taken to the Mind-it web site.
