Undergraduate Programs

The Department offers courses leading to the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Students seeking an undergraduate major in Psychology are required to complete 37 credits in psychology (13 courses). There are 7 required courses, plus 3 courses from core areas and 3 electives.

Electives

Psychology majors must take 3 additional psychology courses from among the undergraduate courses offered by the department. Courses not taken as part of the psychology core areas may be used as electives.

For example, if you selected PSY 372, Social Psychology, as your core course for the social/personality subfield, you could use PSY - 470, Theories of Personality, as an elective. Please check the catalog to see the range of courses offered by the Department.

Minor in Psychology

All undergraduate students at Central Connecticut State University must complete a concentration (a "minor") in a second area different from their major. For students who are majoring in areas other than psychology, an 18 semester hour (6 courses) Concentration in Psychology is available. Requirements for the Concentration are: PSY 112 and 5 additional courses in Psychology. Please review the catalog for course prerequisites before registering for courses.
